AIFSET 2026 Registrations are open with 17th April as Deadline

Interested candidates have two days left to apply before taking the exam remotely.

Bhubaneshwar: Accepting applications since 1st September, 2025, the All India Forensic Science Entrance Test (AIFSET) 2026 will be closing registrations for interested candidates as of 17th April, 2026. The examination is to be held across the nation on 18th April, 2026. The results will be announced on 20th April, 2026. 

The final score is accepted by AIFSET's partner universities for entry into their undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes in Forensic Science. Candidates may attempt to clear the examination no more than three times.

Those seeking a Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) in Forensic Science are required to have either a minimum education till the higher secondary school level, or any equivalent education with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Mathematics as the main subjects, with a minimum aggregate of 50%. Candidates who are due to appear for their Grade 12 examinations are also eligible to apply. 

Those seeking a Master of Science in Forensic Science are required to have graduated in either B. Sc. Forensic Science or any Science programme from a recognised university with a minimum aggregate of 50%. Those who are in the final semester of their undergraduate programme are also eligible to apply. 

Interested candidates are to pay an application fee of ₹2000 to register for the examination. This fee is non-refundable and may be paid on the official AIFSET online payment portal through either debit/credit card or internet banking.

The examination itself will also be conducted online. Examinees may use mobile phones, laptops, or desktop devices to solve a question paper in English worth 100 marks for a duration of no more than one hour. Each correct answer will earn 1 mark, with no negative marking for incorrect responses.

Clearing the AIFSET makes branches of Forensic Science, such as Medical Data Science, Field Science and Laboratory Science, available for specialisation. Medical Data Science covers interventions of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in forensic pathology, forensic medicine and odontology, as well as psychiatry and psychology. Field Science involves crime scene investigation, such as sites of fire and explosion, and illicit drug laboratories. Laboratory Science focuses on chemistry, biology, toxicology, ballistics, marks and impressions like fingerprints, and unethical documentation.

Career prospects after studying Forensic Science include jobs with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Intelligence Bureau (IB), State Forensics Departments, and government or private hospitals. Related fields such as civil services, banking, law enforcement, the pharmaceutical and paint industries, clinical research, biotechnology, and software development also become viable options.
