CBSE BOARDS 2026: How Class XII Students Can Still Use Time For Upcoming Mathematics Examinations

A structured planning and priority-based revision for CBSE Class 12 Mathematics Boards(041) and Applied Mathematics(241), to improve accuracy and presentation of answers.

By Tamanna
New Delhi: With nearly two weeks remaining before the Mathematics papers, Class 12 students still have valuable time to strengthen problem-solving accuracy and speed. Teachers say this phase should be used to identify weak chapters, revise formulas and practise questions under harsh exam phases.

A Last Minute Plan to improve your performance:

  • First 4–5 days:  Revise high-weightage chapters such as Calculus, Matrices Determinants, Probability and Linear Programming. Applied Mathematics students should focus on Financial Mathematics and Statistics.
  • Next 4–5 days: Practice numericals and case-study based questions, practice writing step-wise, graphs and correct use of formulas.
  • Last 2–3 days: Revise formulas, common question types and previous mistakes with repeated errors.
  • Focus areas for Mathematics:
  • Solving even one full-length previous question paper every alternate day can improve time management and confidence.
  • Choose calculation accuracy over answering speed
  •  Follow Proper steps and logical flow
  •  Draw clear  graphs and neat briefs

Reading Questions and Presentation Matter Across Papers: Across all Board Examinations, especially Mathematics, evaluators continue to stress the importance of reading questions carefully and answer  exactly what is asked. Choose formulas wisely and avoid unnecessary calculations to save time.

Managing Exam Pressure

Avoid extended late-night study sessions, especially in the final days as fatigue can lead to careless mistakes in numericals and incomplete answers. Short and focused study sessions with breaks will prove to be more effective. Remember, calm revision, clear focus and disciplined planning can still make a measurable difference in your final scores.

The Last 30 minutes are crucial

In the final 15-30 minutes before the examination, students are advised to avoid solving new problems. Teachers recommend using this time only to revise formulas, standard results and key concepts that are frequently applied across chapters. Going through new examples, checking calculators repeatedly or discussing new topics with peers at this stage is discouraged to avoid any further confusion.
