RKMVERI to Host Half Day Seminar on Nobel Prizes in Physics & Chemistry 2025

Ramakrishna Mission Vivekanand Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI) will organize a half-day seminar on the Nobel Prizes in Physics and chemistry 2025 on January 29, 2026 at its Belur Campus.

Howrah - The Department of Physics, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI), will organize a half-day seminar titled “Nobel Prizes in Physics & Chemistry, 2025” on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Saradananda Seminar Hall, Prajna Bhavan, Belur Main Campus.
The seminar will be held from 1:30 pm to 4:45 pm, with physical registration starting at 1:30 pm. The event aims to highlight and discuss the major scientific breakthroughs recognized by the 2025 Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry.

For Physics, the seminar will cover the work of Nobel laureates John Clarke, Michel H. Devoret, and John M. Martinis, focusing on advances in quantum mechanics, including quantum tunnelling and quantized energy levels in electrical circuits.

For Chemistry, the session will discuss the contribution of Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson and Omar Yaghi , recognized for the development of metal-organic frameworks and certain porous materials with applications in carbon capture, water harvesting and green chemical technologies. 

The Physics sessions will be delivered by Prof. Archan S. Majumdar of S.N Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata, while the Chemistry session will be presented by Prof. Debasish Haldar from the Indian institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata.

The seminar is open to faculty members, postgraduate students and research scholars. Interested participants are required to register by scanning the QR code provided in the official flyer and pay a token registration fee of ₹100. Participation certificates will be issued to all the registered attendees.
