DHS GSU to Host Four Day Workshop on Next Generation Sequencing and Advanced Molecular Techniques

Hands-on training in modern genomics and molecular biology tools

Sagar: The Department of Biotechnology, Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya (DHS GSU), Sagar, is organizing a four-day workshop on “Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Advanced Molecular Techniques” from 27 to 30 January 2026. The workshop is supported by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, under the DBT BUILDER Programme.

The workshop will be led by experienced academic and industry professionals, including Dr. Vishal Dhar and Mr. Pravin Nilawe, Field Application Scientists from Thermo Fisher Scientific. Designed as an intensive, hands-on programme, it will expose participants to both theoretical concepts and practical workflows used in contemporary genomics and molecular research.

Key Points:

  • Focus on NGS sample preparation, library construction, and sequencing workflows

  • Practical training on Thermo Fisher NGS platforms

  • Sessions on bioinformatics-based data analysis and interpretation

  • Coverage of Sanger sequencing, RT-qPCR preparation, and quality control techniques

The workshop is open to faculty members, PhD scholars, postgraduates, and undergraduate students. The mode of the sessions are offline, with a seat cap of 50 participants.

The workshop aims to strengthen technical skills in advanced molecular biology and genomics, offering participants valuable exposure to industry-relevant tools and methodologies. Interested candidates can apply online through the official link provided by the university before 25 January 2026.
