DHSGV to Hold Three Day National Seminar to Examine Knowledge, Error, and Epistemic Injustice

Philosophy scholars to gather in Sagar to debate how knowledge is formed, distorted, and denied in social contexts.

Sagar: The Department of Philosophy at Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar (Madhya Pradesh), will organise a three-day national seminar titled “Knowledge, Erroneous Perception, and Epistemic Injustice” from February 6 to 8, 2026. The seminar is sponsored by the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR), New Delhi.

The seminar aims to bring together philosophers, social scientists, and researchers to critically engage with how knowledge is produced, validated, and contested across Indian and Western traditions. Moving beyond abstract theory, the discussions will locate epistemology within lived social realities, focusing on error, exclusion, credibility, and power.

Themes include philosophies of knowledge, error and illusion, skepticism, epistemic injustice, caste and gendered marginalisation, and others. The event will feature invited talks by senior scholars from leading universities across India, along with paper presentations by academics and research scholars.

Key points:

  • Dates: February 6–8, 2026

  • Venue: Abhimanch Sahagar & Conference Hall, Visitor Hostel, Sagar

  • Organiser: Department of Philosophy, DHSGV

  • Focus: Knowledge, misperception, exclusion, and social justice

  • Registration: Open via Google Form

By foregrounding epistemology as a socially embedded practice, the seminar seeks to deepen contemporary debates on knowledge, inequality, and democratic inclusion within philosophy and allied disciplines.
