The DRDO Young Scientist Laboratory, Cognitive Technology (DYSL-CT), situated within the prestigious IITM Research Park in Chennai, has officially opened applications for its Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) program. This laboratory is a specialized wing of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) dedicated to pioneering advancements in Cognitive Radio, Cognitive Radar, and Cognitive Surveillance. By maintaining strong collaborative ties with top-tier academic institutions like the IITs and various central and state universities, the lab provides an elite research environment where young scientists can work on innovative defense technologies.

The fellowship offers a significant opportunity for researchers specialized in Computer Science, Information Science, or Electrical and Electronics Engineering. To be eligible, candidates must have secured a first-division degree in their respective fields from an AICTE-accredited institution and must have successfully cleared national-level examinations such as GATE or CSIR-UGC NET. Alternatively, those holding an M.E. or M.Tech degree in these disciplines with first-division marks at both the graduate and postgraduate levels are also encouraged to apply. Beyond basic qualifications, the laboratory is looking for candidates with specific proficiencies in algorithm analysis, C++ or Python programming, and a foundational understanding of Machine Learning and Digital Signal Processing (DSP).

Selected fellows will be granted a monthly stipend of RS. 37,000 along with applicable House Rent Allowance (HRA). The tenure of the fellowship is initially set for two years, though it may be extended up to a total of four years based on performance and prevailing organizational rules. Applicants should be aware that the upper age limit for this position is 28 years, with standard age relaxations applicable for candidates belonging to SC, ST, and OBC categories according to government regulations.

The selection process is conducted via an interview, and only shortlisted candidates will be notified of the specific date and venue. To apply, interested individuals must submit their completed application forms along with self-attested copies of their academic credentials to the Director of DYSL-CT in Chennai. These documents must reach the office within 20 days of the advertisement's publication in Employment News. Additionally, candidates are encouraged to send a digital copy of their application to the designated official email address provided by the lab to ensure timely processing.
