North Eastern Hills University to Host Ruby Jubilee International Conference on Information and Knowledge Systems

North-Eastern Hills University, Shillong, will organise a Ruby Jubilee International Conference to mark 40 years of excellence. The conference will focus on the multifaceted role of information, knowledge systems, technologies and libraries in socio-cultural and academic environment. Scholars, professionals and students from across India and abroad are expected to participate..

Shillong - North-Eastern Hills University (NEHU), Shillong, though it's a Department of Library and Information Science will organise a Ruby Jubilee International Conference on February 26 and 27, 2026, at the Multi Use Convention Hall, NEHU, Shillong. The event is being organized as part of the university's celebration of 40 years of academic excellence. 

The theme of the conference is " Multifaceted Role of Information, Knowledge Systems, Technologies and Libraries in Socio-Cultural and Academic Environments". The conference aims to provide a platform in for intellectual knowledge , collaboration and discussion on the changing role of information and libraries in the digital age.

Key sub-themes include information literacy across diverse communities, documentation and integration of indigenous knowledge systems, modernization and management of library resources, scholarly communication, and research metrics in the Indian context, information, media and society in the digital age and strategic outreach and community engagement in public libraries.

The conference is being organized under the leadership of Prof. P. Hangsling, Conference Director and Head, Department of Library and Information Science, NEHU. Dr. JJ Thabah is serving as Coordinator and Dr. J Khongtim as Co-Coordinator. The Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chancellor, NEHU, is the Chief Patron, while the Dean, School of Economics, Management and Information Sciences, NEHU, is the Patron.

Original research papers related to the conference themes are invited. Abstracts of up to 300 words and full papers of 5,000 to 8,000 words in APA 7th edition format are to be submitted. The extended deadline for abstract submission is January 17, 2026, full paper submission by February 7, 2026, and final registration by February 10, 2026. Papers must have a plagiarism similarity index of 10 percent or less. Selected papers will be presented during the conference and included in the conference proceedings.

Registration is open for working professionals, research scholars and postgraduate students with different fee categories for participants with & without accommodation. Interested participants can register through the online link or QR Code provided in the Brochure. Payments can also be made directly tthrough SBI NEHU Bank Account. 

The conference is expected to bring together librarian, academics,  researchers and students to discuss emerging trends, challenges and opportunities in information and knowledge systems strengthening the role of libraries in building informed and inclusive societies.
