IIM Mumbai Celebrates First MBA Convocation, 505 Students Graduate in Landmark Batch

Inaugural MBA batch marks a new chapter after institute’s transition to IIM status. Graduates urged to lead with purpose, integrity, and adaptability.

MUMBAI, MAHARASHTRA: The IIM Mumbai marked a historic milestone by celebrating the graduation of its first MBA batch of 2026, awarding degrees to 505 students at its campus. The convocation holds special significance as it comes after the institute’s recent transition into an Indian Institute of Management, positioning it among India’s premier management institutions.

The graduating cohort included 300 students from the General MBA programme, 177 from Operations and Supply Chain Management, and 28 from Sustainability Management. In addition, several students completed executive programmes in logistics and operations, while a small group of scholars were awarded doctoral degrees, reflecting the institute’s growing academic diversity. The ceremony was attended by prominent leaders, including Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO of the National Stock Exchange of India, who encouraged graduates to remain adaptable, ethical, and purpose-driven in their careers. He emphasised that young professionals will play a crucial role in shaping India’s economic and technological future.Director Manoj Tiwari expressed pride in the inaugural batch, highlighting their potential to make meaningful contributions across industries. Chairman Shashi Kiran Shetty reiterated the institute’s vision of becoming a globally recognised centre for management education, with a strong focus on leadership and innovation.

This milestone reflects more than just a degree, it represents the beginning of a new journey in a rapidly evolving professional world. As the first MBA graduates of IIM Mumbai step forward, they carry the responsibility of setting a benchmark for future batches and contributing to India’s growth story.
