IIM Mumbai Wins Prestigious LEAPS 2024 Award for Excellence in Logistics Education

Mumbai: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai has been honored with the prestigious LEAPS-2024 (Logistics Excellence, Advancement & Performance Shield) Award for its remarkable contributions to education and skill development in the logistics sector. Among 34 participants, IIM Mumbai emerged as the top institution in the "Education and Skill Development in the Logistics Sector" category, reaffirming its leadership in this critical field.

The award was presented to Professor Manoj Kumar Tiwari, Director of IIM Mumbai, by Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles. LEAPS-2024 celebrates innovation and excellence in the logistics ecosystem, recognizing MSMEs, startups, and institutions that demonstrate transformative practices and substantial impact.

In tandem with the award ceremony, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is set to unveil the much-anticipated Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) Report 2024. This annual report, part of the National Logistics Policy 2022, offers a strategic roadmap for enhancing logistics performance across India.

Expressing his gratitude, Professor Manoj Kumar Tiwari remarked, "This recognition underscores our unwavering dedication to excellence in logistics education and skill development. We are deeply grateful to the Government of India and other governing bodies for their trust in our vision. With logistics playing a pivotal role in India's economic progress, IIM Mumbai is committed to fostering a future-ready workforce by embracing emerging trends such as digital transformation, sustainability, and capacity building."

Shashi Kiran Shetty, Founder and Chairman of Allcargo Group and Chairman of IIM Mumbai’s Board of Governors, has been instrumental in transforming India’s logistics and supply chain landscape. Over the past three decades, his efforts have modernized port infrastructure and warehousing systems, propelling India to become a competitive player in global trade.

Under Shetty's leadership, IIM Mumbai has gained significant momentum in advancing education and research as drivers of innovation in logistics and supply chain management. His vision positions institutions like IIM Mumbai as hubs of technology-driven practices, fostering collaboration between academia and industry while bolstering India’s standing as a global logistics hub.

As a Nodal Agency for the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan and a key contributor to shaping the National Logistics Policy, IIM Mumbai continues to play a transformative role in India’s logistics and infrastructure sectors.

This accolade not only highlights IIM Mumbai's commitment to management education and innovation but also positions the institute as a beacon of progress, driving India’s logistics sector toward global prominence.
