IIT Jammu Announces RISE UP 2026, Applications Open for Prestigious Research Internship Program

IIT Jammu has announced the opening of applications for its prestigious RISE-UP 2026 Research Internship. Starting March 26, 2026, undergraduate and postgraduate students from across India can apply for this 4-to-8-week residential program in Jagti. The internship offers hands-on experience in cutting-edge labs, mentorship from IIT faculty, and a stipend of up to ₹13,000 for eligible participants.

JAMMU, India, The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu has officially announced the commencement of applications for its highly anticipated Research Internship in Sciences and Engineering, an Undergraduate Program (RISE-UP) 2026. Designed to foster a robust research culture nationwide, this initiative offers a unique platform for aspiring engineers and scientists to move beyond theoretical learning and engage in high-impact, real-world technical challenges.

The program is hosted at the scenic IIT Jammu campus located in Jagti. Unlike the virtual formats that have become common in recent years, RISE-UP 2026 is a strictly offline, residential program. This structure ensures that selected interns have direct, hands-on access to the institute’s state-of-the-art laboratories and cutting-edge research facilities, all while working under the close mentorship of esteemed IIT Jammu faculty members.

The internship is primarily targeted at pre-final year undergraduate and postgraduate students from recognized institutions other than IIT Jammu. Specifically, students in the 3rd year of a 4-year B.Tech/B.E. program or the 1st year of a 2-year M.Sc./M.Tech. Programs are encouraged to apply. While the program is open to candidates from various disciplines, preference will be given to those demonstrating strong programming skills and a proven technical foundation.

The application portal is scheduled to go live on March 26, 2026. Interested candidates must submit their applications through the official IIT Jammu portal by the strict deadline of April 10, 2026, at 11:59 PM. Applicants are required to prepare several documents in advance, including a one-page CV, academic transcripts, a Bonafide Certificate from their home institution, and a parental declaration form.

Scheduled to take place between May and July 2026, the internship offers a flexible duration ranging from four to eight weeks. To ensure a productive experience, interns must commit to at least 4 weeks. A significant highlight of the program is the financial support provided to dedicated researchers; students who complete the full eight-week duration are eligible for a stipend of approximately ₹13,000. Additionally, the institute provides hostel accommodation to all selected interns, subject to applicable charges, ensuring a comprehensive campus experience.
