Aadrash Ram Jothi Shankar Wins Bronze at Asian Indoor Athletics Championships

India’s Aadrash Ram Jothi Shankar clinched a bronze medal in the men’s high jump at the 12th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Tianjin, China. The athlete recorded a best jump of 2.19m in a competitive field of 14 participants.

China - Indian high jumper Aadrash Ram Jothi Shankar secured a bronze medal in the men’s high jump event at the 12th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships held in Tianjin, China. Shankar achieved a best clearance of 2.19 metres, marking a significant milestone in his indoor debut at the continental meet.

Competing among 14 athletes, Shankar steadily progressed through the rounds. He successfully cleared 2.15m in his second attempt and 2.19m in his third attempt, positioning himself firmly in the medal race. However, he narrowly missed out on a higher finish after failing to clear 2.23m in all three attempts.

Japan’s Yuto Seko clinched the gold medal with a jump of 2.23m, while his compatriot Tomohiro Shinno secured silver with a height of 2.19m. Shankar’s performance highlighted India’s growing strength in high jump at the international level.

In other events, India’s Praveen Chithravel finished fourth in the men’s triple jump with a best attempt of 16.22m. Chinese athletes dominated the event, with Su Wen winning gold (16.55m), followed by Jiao Xinpeng (16.47m) and Ma Yinglong (16.45m). In the women’s shot put, India’s Yogita finished fourth with a throw of 15.33m. Meanwhile, sprinter Manikanta Hoblidhar was disqualified for a false start in the men’s 60m heats.
