JMI conducts a one day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme for university sportspersons

The Games & Sports Department, JMI in collaboration with the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, JMI organized a day long "Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP)" for the first time for the Sportspersons of Jamia Millia Islamia

New Delhi, March 10, 2026: The Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme (ESDP) Scheme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India was inaugurated by Prof. Mazhar Asif, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar JMI on February 09,  2026  in Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), JMI. 

The Games & Sports Department, JMI in collaboration with the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, JMI organized a day long "Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP)" for the first time for the Sportspersons of Jamia Millia Islamia on 6th March, 2026.

Prof. (Dir.) Rihan Khan Suri, Hony. Director, Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), JMI, Mr. Sparsh Tyagi, Chief Commercial Officer, Fairplay Sports, Mr. Imran Yusuf, Chief Operating Officer, SPTI-MeitY, and Dr. Navaid Zafar Rizvi, Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities, JMI were the Key Speakers of the programme.

Prof. Rihan Khan Suri, Director, CIE, outlined a brief introduction to the CIE in JMI and its designed programmes to build entrepreneurial and managerial capabilities through structured training, expert mentoring, and practical exposure, enabling participants to establish sustainable enterprises. 

Mr. Sparsh Tyagi , Chief Commercial Officer, Fairplay Sports shared his personal experiences of startups and lucrative insights among participants about various skills development for self-employment and setting up businesses for the sportspersons.

Mr. Imran Yusuf, Chief Operating Officer, SPTI-MeitY presented fruitful knowledge among participants about various entrepreneurial aspects, sports technologies, government policies and funding opportunities to be a successful entrepreneur.

Dr. Navaid Zafar Rizvi, Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities, JMI highlighted important entrepreneurial skill sets, MSME schemes, innovation in sports, financial and emerging technologies in sports industry. 

The initiative reaffirms Jamia Millia Islamia’s commitment to entrepreneurship education and capacity building, aligned with the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat and the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.

Prof. Mohd. Mahfuzul Haque felicitated the guest and interacted with students for setting the goal of achieving success in entrepreneurship in sports.

Prof. Nafis Ahmad, Director Games & Sports lauded the ideas and impressive talk delivered by the guest speakers, especially Mr. Sparsh Tyagi and promised to take them on the Board next time for bigger events.

Prof. Mohammad Abid Dy. Director Games & Sports and Dr. Faheem Ahmad coordinated the event successfully.
