MG University Bags Research Initiative Worth ₹1.09 Crore Under Indo Norwegian Research Project

The research will look at the impact of hormone pollution on the ecosystem through the ‘One Health’ approach.

Kottayam: Mahatma Gandhi University has bagged an international research initiative worth ₹1.09 crore under an Indo-Norwegian research project.

 

As part of this initiative, the university will look at the impact of steroid hormones and their derivatives on the aquatic ecosystem. This will include an assessment of the impact on the ecosystem and wildlife.

 

The research will follow the ‘One Health’ approach, where the inter-link between ecosystem health, animal health, and human health is the key.

 

According to officials, this initiative underlines the importance of inter-country research collaboration. This is a welcome move for the university as it joins the ranks of other universities across the nation working on international research projects in the environment and health sectors.

 

The initiative will be undertaken through the collection and analysis of data on the impact of hormone pollution on the ecosystem.
