NEET UG 2026 Biometric Verification Advisory, NTA Issues New Guidelines for Candidates

The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the NEET UG 2026 Biometric Verification Advisory prior to the re-examination taking place on June 21. Based on the advisory, all applicants will be required to undergo either fingerprint or facial recognition biometric verification. These guidelines will be followed on the day of the exam.

NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Candidates to Undergo Biometric Verification Before Entering Exam Hall

There will now be an extra security measure in the path of the exam hall for those students planning to take the NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam on June 21. Imagine traveling to the exam center after months of preparation and then being asked to verify your identity by fingerprint or face recognition after you completed the required exam center frisking.

This is what the National Testing Agency (NTA) has stated in a public notice dated June 18, 2026. The NTA has enacted additional security protocols for the NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam for the NTA, where the Biometric Security Protocol will be enacted for all candidates before entry to the exam halls.

This is part of an overall security measure to ensure the integrity of the exam process and to ensure those candidates entering the exam hall are the actual candidates who sit the exam.

NTA Makes Biometric Verification Mandatory for NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination

As per the official notification, all candidates will now be subjected to a Biometric Security Verification following the required frisking at the exam center prior to entry to the exam hall.

This verification can be one of the following:

  • Fingerprint Authentication
  • Verify Identity through Fingerprint prior to entry to the exam hall.
  • Facial Recognition Security
  • Where required, verify Identity through Face Recognition Security.

The NTA has confirmed that the biometric verification will be enacted prior to the start of the exam and will not be completed.

This means for students to arrive at the examination centre in time and complete the verification process as instructed by centre staff.

Refusing to Undergo Biometric Verification May Result in a Penalty

The advisory has a strict warning for the candidates who refuse biometric verification without a valid documented reason. As per the NTA, the refusal to comply with biometric verification will be treated as a violation of the exam rules.

The NTA also mentioned that this will result in the application of the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. Hence, candidates must cooperate with the staff at the exam center and the security personnel for the biometric verification.

What NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Candidates Must Do on Exam Day

To avoid any issues on the day of the exam, the candidates must do the following:

  • Reach the exam center well before the scheduled time.
  • Bring all the required documents mentioned along with the admit card.
  • Fully cooperate during body frisking and biometric verification.
  • Obey all the commands of the exam officials.
  • In case of failure of biometric verification, notify the exam center officials.
  • Complete the written undertaking if required.
