One Nation One Subscription Scheme 13,000 Plus E Journals Now Available for Students and Researchers

According to the Ministry of Education, the One Nation One Subscription scheme now provides more than 13,000 international e-journals for more than 1.8 crore students, teachers, and researchers in India.

The Ministry of Education informed about the progress of the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) scheme recently. The ONOS Scheme is a giant leap taken by the Government of India to provide students, researchers, and faculty members access to global academic resources. The ONOS scheme was launched on January 1, 2025 as a Central Sector Scheme. The ONOS scheme intends to provide ease of access to global academic resources to strengthen interdisciplinary research.

According to the Ministry, the scheme is aimed at enhancing higher education and state-funded quality research by providing access to research publications and eliminating barriers of access to research.

 

What is the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) Scheme?

One Nation One Subscription is an initiative by the Government of India under the Ministry of Education to provide a common national subscription to the leading international academic publishers. The scheme is designed to support the access of high-quality academic content and research to students, faculty members and researchers at the eligible institutions.

  • 13,000 e-journals available because of unified national contracts from 30-32 of the leading international publishers

  • ₹150 crore a year Research Journals by National Research Funding (NRF) to support open access by Indian researchers to pay for reputable international journals
