PM Modi and Emmanuel Macron Inaugurate Bharat Innovates 2026 in France, Showcasing India's DeepTech Strength

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron inaugurated the first edition of Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice, France. The event showcases 120 Indian innovations and aims to strengthen India-France cooperation in DeepTech, research, entrepreneurship and global innovation partnerships.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron jointly inaugurated the maiden edition of Bharat Innovates 2026 at the Palais des Expositions de Nice in France on Saturday. Organized by the Government of India under the Union Ministry of Education, the event aims to strengthen innovation-led partnerships between Indian DeepTech innovators and global stakeholders.

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal welcomed the dignitaries at the inaugural session. Union Minister for External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India Dr. Ajay Kumar Sood were also present at the event.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India's growing role in the global innovation landscape. He said that India is innovating at scale and speed while contributing to a sustainable future and global progress. Emphasizing that innovation is deeply rooted in India's culture, the Prime Minister described Bharat Innovates as an invitation for the world to collaborate with India in shaping the next phase of global innovation.

French President Emmanuel Macron praised India's dynamic innovation ecosystem and said that the decision to host the first-ever Bharat Innovates event outside India in Nice reflects the strength of the relationship between the two countries. He noted that India and France share a long-standing partnership in technology, science and industry, which has expanded significantly in recent years. He also emphasized the vast opportunities for future collaboration through scientific, entrepreneurial and industrial cooperation.

Following the inauguration, the two leaders visited the Bharat Innovates Innovation Pavilion, which features 120 advanced technologies and breakthrough innovations developed by Indian startups, innovators and premier higher education institutions. The exhibits span several sectors including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, biotechnology, healthcare, energy, advanced manufacturing, mobility and space technologies.

The event seeks to showcase India's DeepTech capabilities and facilitate partnerships with investors, industries, research institutions and innovators from around the world. It is also expected to deepen bilateral cooperation between India and France in science, technology, innovation, education and entrepreneurship while expanding India's presence in global innovation networks.

Bharat Innovates 2026 is being held from June 14 to June 16 and features an extensive programme including 11 high-level panel discussions, sector-specific masterclasses, business-to-business matchmaking sessions, investor pitch events involving more than 50 startups and dedicated networking opportunities with global investors, corporations, universities, incubators and policymakers.

Industry leaders, investors, academicians and technology experts from across the world are participating in discussions focused on emerging opportunities in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, biotechnology, healthcare, energy, advanced manufacturing, space, defence and climate technologies.

The inaugural edition of Bharat Innovates reflects the shared commitment of India and France to build a future-ready innovation ecosystem driven by collaboration, talent development and transformative technologies.
