The SBI PO recruitment notification 2026 has been published by the State Bank of India, making it easier to begin a career with one of the most popular Indian banking jobs. The recruitment notification, posted on June 18, has invited applications for a total of 1,500 Probationary Officer posts across India. Interested candidates may apply through the SBI Careers portal until July 8, 2026. This notification has created a buzz among the banking hopefuls as the SBI PO is one of the most prestigious bank PO exams in India.

As per the official recruitment notice, the educational qualification for the SBI PO exam is a Bachelor’s degree from a university, and the candidate should fulfill the age criteria as well. SBI has provided details of the selection process, which consists of a Preliminary Examination, a Main Examination, and an Interview and assessment process. Candidates appointed in the process will work as Probationary Officers in one of the SBI branches across the country.

Vacancy Information and Significant Dates

Compared to last year's notification, there has been a large increase in the number of vacancies for this year's recruitment cycle. SBI has released notification for 1,500 PO posts, covering both regular and backlog vacancies in different categories. Increased vacancies are being viewed optimistically by banking experts and are seen as a favorable development for aspirants who are actively preparing for the government banking examinations in 2026.

With the intimation of notification published on June 18, the online registration started. Interested applicants will have to complete the registration, upload necessary documents, and pay the application fees by July 8. SBI has requested aspirants to check the eligibility conditions and other instructions in the notification before submitting the form.

SBI has also released a tentative examination schedule for the aspirants to formulate a preparation strategy. The Preliminary Examination is to be conducted on August 1 and August 2, and the Main Examination on September 12. Other examination details and the admit card will be made available on the official portal.
