Tripura CM Manik Saha Inaugurates New School Buildings, Emphasises Infrastructure and Inclusive Education

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurated new school buildings in Mohanpur and virtually launched three others, highlighting major investments in school infrastructure, inclusive development, and holistic education across the state.

Tripura : Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on January 17 reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening school infrastructure, stating that education remains a top priority for the present administration. He also alleged that the previous government left behind unresolved issues and heavy financial liabilities, making development more challenging.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while inaugurating the newly constructed building of Madhu Chowdhury Para XII School in Mohanpur. He also virtually inaugurated the buildings of Tarapur XII School, Gopalnagar XII School, and Berimura XII School. The main inauguration programme was held at the premises of Madhu Chowdhury Para XII School.

Addressing students, teachers, and local residents, CM Saha said that prior to 2018, there was a lack of substantial development in key sectors such as education and health. He added that the present government is working with greater determination to overcome past shortcomings.

“The previous government left a significant financial burden and pressure due to multiple pending issues, including the 10,323 case. Despite these challenges, our government is committed to the development of every section of society,” he said.

Highlighting the Centre’s focus on inclusive growth, the Chief Minister noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has placed special emphasis on the welfare and upliftment of tribal communities. He said India is home to around 700 tribal groups, of which 19 are in Tripura.

“The unity of people from all communities—castes, tribes, Manipuris, and minorities—is our greatest strength. Together, we must work to build a new and developed Tripura,” CM Saha said.

He further pointed out that between 2019 and 2024, seven eminent personalities from Tripura’s tribal community have been honoured with the Padma Shri. Referring to the appointment of Draupadi Murmu as the President of India, he said it reflects the government’s nationalist approach and commitment to tribal development.

The Chief Minister said Tripura has witnessed rapid development in recent years, with new projects being inaugurated almost every day across different regions of the state.

“The more development we ensure for tribal and backward communities, the fairer and stronger the competition will be. They will shape the future of our state. As the Prime Minister has said, the future belongs to those who possess knowledge,” he added.

CM Saha informed that a total of ₹20.64 crore has been spent on the development of the four XII schools inaugurated on the day. He said the state government has given special importance to infrastructure development and ensured adequate budgetary allocations for the education sector.

Emphasising holistic learning, the Chief Minister said education should go beyond textbooks. “Students must actively participate in sports and extracurricular activities. Education is a lifelong process, and it helps address social challenges by guiding society from darkness to light,” he said.

Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Lefunga BAC Chairman Ranbir Debbarma, Vice Chairman Budhu Debbarma, Hejamara BAC Vice Chairman Nihar Ranjan Debbarma, Education Director NC Sharma, along with other senior officials and dignitaries, were present at the event.
