Central University of Jharkhand to Host National Conference on Climate Change and Water Security.

The Department of Civil Engineering, Central University of Jharkhand will organise a national conference on climate changed and water security on February 5-6, 2026 in hybrid mode , inviting researchers academicians and professionals from across the country.

Ranchi - The Department of in civil Engineering, Central University Of Jharkhand (CUJ), Ranchi has announced a National Conference on "Climate Change and Water Security : Mitigation Strategies and AI Solutions for Developing Countries" scheduled to be held on February 5 and 6, 2026.

The conference will be conducted in hybrid mode, allowing both on-site and virtual presentations to ensure wider participation from students, researchers, academicians , government officials , NGOs and environmental activists. 

The technical sessions will cover three major themes:

Climate Change Impacts, including rainfall variability, river flows, glacier retreat and hydrological modelling.

Technology and Innovation, such as smart irrigation, remote sensing, GIS, wastewater treatment and reuse, and the role of AI, IoT and satellite data in water management.

Community and Ecosystem Resilience, focusing on traditional water management practices, community-led adaptation strategies and ecosystem-based approaches to water security.

As per the schedule, the last date for abstract submission is January 25, 2026, while abstract acceptance will be notified on January 27, 2026. The full-length paper submission deadline is February 2, 2026. Theme wise best papers will be awarded.

The registration fee for both onsite and virtual participation has been fixed at  ₹500 for students, research scholars, academicians, government employees , NGOs and environmental activists. 

According to the official brochure, Prof. Kshiti Bhusan Das, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Jharkhand, is the Chief Patron of the conference, while Prof. Ajai Singh, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology and Head, Department of Civil Engineering, is the Patron. The event is being organised by the Department of Civil Engineering, with Dr. P.K. Parhi and Dr. Birendra Bharti as Co-Conveners and Dr. Pratibha Warwade as Organizing Secretary.

The conference will address key issues such as erratic rainfall, glacier retreat, declining groundwater levels and rising water stress, and aims to bring together stakeholders to discuss scientific, technological and community-based solutions for sustainable water management.
